Challenges
You might not have Daisy at your disposal, but there are other ways to help cut your carbon emissions. Why not leave your car at home one day a week and rely on trains, buses, and your own two feet.

For work I have to drive mostly but I try to do this as often as possible (have to say having a bus pass makes it easier and cheaper!) Like someone else said, it is good to go down to our local shops - get all the chat and keep them going too...I like walking and keeps my weight down, not bad !
I also hate sitting in queues of cars which happens every August in Cornwall when I am leaving Newquay after work...
This challenge is easier when the weather is good i must admit, but still everyday i dont use my car makes me feel like i've done something for the world. Sounds silly , but if we all did it just one day a week we would help the world!
did shopping from local rather then goingfar to tesco or asda and saved money on shopping, so good fun with kids
Did this over the weekend as my car is in the garage having its MOT.
Cant say I was car free as i had others giving me lifts to the places where I would normally go I.e the local rugby club on Saturday (I'm the first aider/massage therapist).
Difficult yes, have you seen what I have to carry to keep the players happy?!?! So I managed by others running me around so even though I have done as suggested I was a passenger in two other cars and a passenger in a local taxi later that evening.
Having said that I have previously used my bike back and forth to work but at the moment its too dark and too cold!
With a car outside the door (being disabled) its tempting to use it freely but Im aiming to use my electric disabled scooter more this year to get about as nothing is really too far away living in a city, so I have little excuse. Thankfully, high petrol prices are helping to remind people not to over-use their cars as simply cant afford to run it these days! Unfortunately I cant use the bus my myself as only have a manual wheelchair (so someone has to push me) and unfortunately buses dont take motorised scooters.
I'm lucky to be able to use the bus for free; hence, able to take it to the shops; sometimes, get on or off a stop earlier and walk that little bit further. In the summer, I tend to walk most of the way. Along the way, there are local produce and meat to be had at our local Goods Shed or butcher; that way, help to reduce packaging and packaging throw away.
Never learnt to drive and never will, until that affordable carbon-neutral hydrogen/electric automobile is on the British marketplace!
I now only use my car for one and a half days a week and am considering car sharing with my daughter there has been a great saving problem is the savings dont come with insurance reduction or car tax reduction, and my son is now trading in solar panels and the new led lighting so it does pass on to others.
I sold my car for the ultimate energy saving feat. Then used the money towards upgrading the energy use in my home to be A-rated.
walk to train station (35 minutes) at least one day each week
