UK Together was a nationwide collective energy-buying group, managed by energyshare with the ultimate aim of helping the UK step closer to eradicating fuel poverty in homes across the UK.
Working together as a group people were able to negotiate cheaper electric & gas deals with energy companies, the more people that switched the more money people saved. An essential aim of the project was reaching the most vulnerable households and communities in fuel poverty.
Since 2004 the average household energy bill has rocketed from £522 to £1254 a year, that’s a massive 140%. Across the UK only 20% of households are on supplier’s best deals, that’s an awful lot of money going into the pockets of energy companies for the want of a little attention to detail.
UK Together was a unique collaboration between the Eden Project and energyshare, supported by uSwitch and other key partners including the NHS and Cornwall Council to make sure that the message got through to the communities that could really benefit.
