We are a small village hall but mean much more than that to the local community. A registered charity we are very much the hub for all Talwrn's village activities and the home for a multitude of organisations for all ages. Among these are the local Ysgol Feithrin, The local Primary School, Youth Theatre Mon & Mon Youth Choir, The local Eisteddfod, The Archeological society, W.I and Merched y Wawr, The Guides, Churches and Chapels, and the Anglesey and Llyn Fens conservation project.
The village lost its post office and then it's only shop but we didn't take it sitting down. As a village hall we are already setting up a community shop alongside the hall, which will sell, and promote local produce.e.g. Local bakery "Becws Mefys"; local dairy "Ty'n Llidiart";plus local Farmers market produce i.e CAWS cheese, Mon Stir Sause, Anglesey Herbs, and much more. The playground group have fought long and hard to create a lovely playing area for the children as well as developing the surrounding green area to include a willow tunnel, tree planting and an orchard is in progress. Talwrn village sits at the heart of the Bodeilio marsh Regeneration project, and has a circular walk between the marsh and the village. Guided walks with experts are arranged from the hall and light refreshments are served. The "Life" (angleseymonandllynfens.com) regeneration project are fully supportive of our aims to make our hall a centre for its activities. We can envisage a future where the shop, hall and play area can combine with the efforts and aims of this project and promote conservation, local culture, and also provide services for the local and nearby communities.
After consultation with professionals, we believe our south facing roof is ideal for P.V solar panels, and are advised that a ground source heat pump would work well with this choice. This, together with improved insulation, would cut our running costs as well as our carbon footprint. The energyshare funding would help us ensure this.
We see being a part of energyshare as the next step towards ensuring the hall's future and our future as a greener community in a rapidly changing environment. Our project may not be the most different, but we believe that our aims are achievable and realistic. GREEN MUST BECOME MAINSTREAM. Alternative energy is practical, common sense, and should be seen working in daily life within a real living community.
If we obtain this funding, people will walk to the community shop and buy local produce, and we could use the hall as a venue for a small farmers market. Ramblers and Nature enthusiasts will come and learn from our rare marshland, prompting specialised lectures and courses. Schools would also benefit from such guided walks. We could also host lectures on alternative energy and promote greater awareness of cutting our carbon foot print. Other small businesses will be able to make use of our hall because of its low rental costs, and our present users will contiue to enjoy the hall's hospitality.
We are a mobilised community, and already have a natural catchment of users which we could build upon. Like all communities, the current climate is overwhelming peoples good will to give time and time again to charities such as the village hall. By installing alternative energy at the hall we will reduce its running costs and will be able to GIVE our community the service it deserves. All we need is a little help and support, so please support us.
Annwyl ffrindiau, mae Neuadd y Talwrn fel llawer neuadd gymunedol arall yn galon i'r gymuned lleol. Rydym yn wynebu yr her gyffredin o ddod o hyd i'r arian ar gyfer cynal a chadw. Yma yn y Talwrn mae yna gnewyllun sy'n parhau i frwydro dros galon y gymuned. Gofynwn am eich cefnogaeth yn yr ymdrech yma i ennill arian gan energyshare i'n galluogi i roi ynni solar ar do y neuadd a rhoi system wresogi mwy gynaladwy o'i mewn.
O dorri ein costau, a'n hol troed carbon, gobeithiwn gryfhau ein menter ddiweddaraf i agor siop gymunedol fydd yn gwerthu nwyddau lleol. Byddwn yn gallu datblygu y neuadd, y siop, a'r cae chwarae fel canolfan fydd yn cydweithio gyda'r rhaglen Cadwraeth yng Nghors Bodeilio. Byddwn hefyd yn gallu cynnig gwasanaeth i'r gymuned, a hynny heb fynd yn faich arianol arni. Rhowch eich cefnogaeth i ni felly. Diolch.
