About this group
Like lots of other schools across the UK Sennen have been sharpening their green credentials. Pupils grow their own veg, take turning off lights very seriously and recycle everything possible.
And thanks to all their efforts looking after the environment, Sennen's green activities won the prize of a solar PV installation from the Generation Green initiative. Through the initiative Sennen had 20 solar panels installed on their school roof, so now they generate their own renewable electricity as well.
The school produces around 50% of it’s electricity from the solar PV, saving about £600 a year on electricity bills and an impressive 3.3 tonnes of CO2 has been saved since the panels were installed in 2010.
This also came in handy when Sennen received a visit from the TV series Hugh's Three Hungry Boys last summer, and they needed a top up for their electric vehicle. There were plenty of messy jobs saved up for them in the school garden!
You can see how the Boys got on and find out who else they visited here, and if you'd like to find out more about how Sennen won their solar PV visit Generation Green.
