About this group
This Energy Group is a High Wycombe-based voluntary organisation that is part of the Local Strategic Partnership. We are now part of the Community Carbon Taskforce who will be looking at implementing Community-based projects manned by volunteers to spread education, advice, examples and funding to the local community. This could include the use of an Infra-Red Camera for street surveys, the recruting/training of Street Energy Champions and.the funding of a renewable energy club called "Wycombe Homepower and Warmth" (WHPW).
WHPW is a buying club for domestic renewable energy that uses a panel of local suppliers. A local householder who joins the scheme is required to get a quote from at least three of these suppliers. The householder will benefit from pre-arranged discounts with these suppliers and we will hold their hand through the purchase. We hope to add a money-off voucher scheme as an added incentive plus the scheme requires far greater publicity.
The Infra Red camera will be used to photograph homes in the area with the owner's permission. Funding is required to publicise the service which will educate householders on how their homes are losing warmth. Our Street Energy Champions will then advise householders on how they can plug the gaps and get the grants they are entitled to. We hope to create an area-insulation scheme offering heavily discounted insulation.
Detailed funding will be worked out between March and May 2011. We are reaching out to other interested Groups in the Town who may have related ideas to add.
