About this group
Tutbury Eco Power (TEP), a 'Not for Profit' Industrial & Provident Society [Registration 31444 R (under Dove Valley Eco Power Limited)], is a group of voluntary local residents working towards the development of a Low Carbon Community.
TEP is developing renewable energy solutions to generate 'green' electricity in Tutbury. The first two elements of these being the creation of a 75kW hydro scheme on the local Weir and the other being the development of PV Solar on Community Buildings in the village.
If successful ALL of the £75,000 funding provided by EnergyShare will be used to install PV Solar onto a number of Tutbury's Community Buidlings and those organisations that use the buildings would receive significantly reduced (or even eliminated) electricity bills, with TEP using any income for excess electricity sold and from Feed-in-Tariffs to re-invest back into the community on energy, envrionmental or educational related projects.
NO ONE IN TUTBURY ECOPOWER IS BEING PAID !
Partnerships have been developed between the Group and the local government agencies (Parish, Borough & County Councils), businesses (e.g. Trent & Dove Housing) and the community with which it communicates and works. Meetings of the Group facilitate the sharing of views, opinions and actions and are conducted on an equitable basis to ensure the success and sustainability of the Group.
TEP have now also commenced an Energy Reduction Project, having received funding from East Staffordshire Borough Council (ESBC). Three of TEP's members have also been trained as Energy Advisors, 30 'State of the Art' Energy Monitors have been bought from Eco-Eye and the Group have also bought an Infra-Red Camera. A leaflet has been dropped through every domestic letterbox in the village (approx 1000) asking for households to participate in the Project. The aim is to try and have 3x10 different type of house designs and occupancy in order to provide a good overview of the potential energy savings available. At the end of the Project, a Report will be produced for each of the house types highlighting the energy reductions identified over the pproject's period.
TEP is a 'Not for Profit' organisation with all Net Revenues being re-invested back into its Community.
