I am the Chairman of the Earsdon Community Project and Vicar of two village churches near Whitley Bay in the North East of England. I am leading an exciting project to provide renewable energy to two community buildings via a district heating system powered by biomass. So far we have raised 50% of the £90K needed to fund the scheme which will also be an education and awareness raising project. We even have plans to grow our own willow and poplar and use the fuel to power the boiler. I am excited by our project because not only will we stop using gas to heat our buildings, we will be the first charity in North Tyneside to have a district heating system powered by biomass.
