SPACE is a charity (set up in 1968), supporting artists & creatives throughout their careers. We do this primarily through the provision of affordable studio space, (we have 18 buildings in London, housing 700 tenants). Additionally we provide support and showcasing via an extensive programme of exhibitions, talks, workshops, professional and youth training and schools / community projects. Via our MediaLab, we work to engage artists and others with digital technologies and to showcase artistic practice in this area. SPACE is passionate about sustainability in all senses - from recycling former industrial buildings for new, creative uses, to proactively pursuing energy conservation strategies and ultimately, working towards the sustainability of SPACE and the creative sector. Our proposed Energyshare projects include PEOPLE POWER - an exciting schools programme to develop renewable energy and sustainability awareness - and SPACE_Solar - an exemplar project to create harness solar power in the heart of the creative community in Peckham, London.
