About this group
Our project has been set up by a team of working volunteers drawn from the highly successful Wey Valley Solar Schools Energy Co-operative.
Our aim is to create a community funded renewable heat co-operative which will trade as an ESCO providing heat from locally sourced wood fuel to public and community buildings such as schools, churches, leisure centres and care homes in and near Surrey.
We will be sourcing the wood from local unmanaged woodlands (which are extensive in Surrey- the most wooded county in England), bringing them back into ecologically sympathetic management and enhancing their biodiversity and carbon up-take.
The project is currently in the research phase and working with the local communities to find our first biomass project.
We would welcome any advice or guidance from other groups that have completed simliar projects.
